2016 Malbec

GLHF Vineyard, Temecula Valley

Light shimmering ruby red in color. The aroma of dusty black cherry takes center stage, accented by violets and a woodsy toast from new French oak barrels. A bit of fresh cracked black pepper and well-worn leather round out the nose. Fresh cherries and spice dominate the palate with a round, glossy mouth feel. Tannin on the finish lengthens the wine and adds seriousness. This Malbec is crafted in a very French style – light and nuanced with medium body and terrific acidity. It would pair nicely with dark poultry such as duck or ostrich and can also complement lamb or pork loin. Mild, nutty cheeses would also work well.

2016 Zinfandel

Pauba Road Vineyard, Temecula Valley

Medium dark ruby red in color. Aromas of black cherry, tobacco leaf and black licorice dominate, but suggestions of fig and currents come through as well. The wine is jammy/brambly with sweet cherry and berry notes. There is just enough acid to keep the fruit in check and give the wine a mouthwatering finish.

This is a rich, ripe Zinfandel with a round, glossy weight on the palate. Ideally suited to grilled meats such as brisket or baby-back ribs, this wine is perfectly at home at a barbeque.

Serreno Vineyard, Temecula Valley

Shimmering straw in color. The nose is bright and fresh with lemon-lime zest and golden apple aromas prevailing, due to stainless steel fermentation. There is also the suggestion of fresh brioche from time spent on the wine’s lees. The palate follows suit with additional apple and pear notes.

This light wine has a refreshing acidity and a clean, easy drinking finish. Enjoy with mild, flakey fish or with pasta in a light cream sauce.

2016 Viognier

Pauba Road Vineyard, Temecula Valley

Light straw to slightly yellow in color. The aroma absolutely screams Viognier with its expressive nose of white flowers, apricots, peaches and ginger. On the palate, this wine juxtaposes sweet, mouthwatering fruitiness with a crisp, acidic backbone that keeps it fresh and lively. Additional stone fruit character comes through in flavors of white peach, apricot and nectarine.

The wine finishes clean and long and with an exotic floral character. It should be enjoyed with equally exotic foods such as Indian chicken korma, Thai curries or spicy Greek dishes.
